The St. Louis International Film Festival has a solid and growing national and international reputation for its programming, particularly for its foreign language films. The New Filmmakers Forum (NFF). is a juried competition for first-time filmmakers who we perceive to be the hot directors of tomorrow to watch today. SLIFF offers an official Academy-sanctioned short subject competition, which allows winners in all categories to be eligible for consideration for an Oscar nomination without doing a theatrical release. The 2007 Best Live Action Short Subject "West Bank Story" was eligible to submit for Oscar consideration because of its Best of Fest award in the 2005 festival. There is also a short film competition with five award categories including the Best of Fest, Best International, Best Drama, Best Documentary and Best Animation awards.
