CATEGORY RULES
ELIGIBILITY

Films that have been broadcast on TV or cable or have had theatrical release prior to BBLIFF, are not eligible for any competition but may be screened, out of competition, at the discretion of BBLIFF.

Note: Submissions may be rough cuts or works-in-progress. Films that are not final cuts should be clearly marked as such. Please indicate what will change or is missing. The Festival will not accept new versions of an entry unless requested by the programming staff. Accepted Films must be completed and received at the Festival Offices no later than August 29, 2014.

Non-English language films must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English.

Upon request, The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival will provide return shipment of films. A self-addressed envelope with appropriate postage, or a FedEx/UPS account number must be provided. The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival will NOT incur the cost of return shipments.

EXHIBITED FILMS

If selected, a Digital Media File (.MOV) and back-up DVD, must be received in the BBLIFF office no later than August 29, 2014. All Films under one hour MUST submit a file with a backup Blu-ray/DVD. All features films can submit Blu-ray/DVD. Please provide a digital media file on a Data DVD with 10 seconds of Black before the film. No bars and tone. Films should be audio mastered to peak between -4db and 0db.

FORMATTING

SD Films: H.264 (.mov) file 720x480 NTSC (4x3 or 16x9) aspect ratio @ 29.97fps (Progressive or lower field.)

HD Films: H.264 (.mov) file 1080p (1920x1080) and a 720p (1280x720) @ (29.97fps or 23.976fps) (Progressive, depending on the format you shot in.)

Include a standard DVD backup labeled either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. All projection is set to standard 4:3 or 16:9 films should be letterbox or labeled "16:9 ASPECT" for correct projection. All DVD's must have a selection menu and should not auto start.

The title of the work and name of entrant, email and return address must be on all Digital Media Files, Data DVD, Blu-ray, DVD, Thumb-drives, Hard-drives and mailing containers.
