Grand Jury Prize Best Documentary Short
Selected by a Jury of Industry Professionals, the winner receives a $500 cash prize.
Cash Award Value: 500 U.S. Dollar


CATEGORY RULES
-- Short Films are under 40 minutes in length.

-- Competition is open to U.S. and International entries.

-- Films that have shown theatrically or been broadcast on television in Tennessee in a non-festival setting prior to the Festival or are available for sale on DVD or VOD in any capacity are NOT eligible for consideration. Cast/Crew or Family/Friend screenings do not disqualify film from entry.

-- Entries must have been completed after January 1, 2012..

-- Entries must be submitted for pre-screening on DVD or BluRay (Region 1 or 0 Standard). Online screeners are acceptable, but DVD is preferred.

-- If you are burning a consumer disc, write your Project Title, Film ID# and Contact #, and runtime on the disc with a Sharpie pen. PLEASE test your consumer-burned DVD on several makes and models of players BEFORE sending it to our offices.

-- Works in progress are accepted but are not encouraged. Please only submit works in progress if close to the final deadline as we may not be able to view re-edited submissions.

-- You may submit multiple entries but you must complete an entry form for each.

-- Entries from previous years are accepted if significant changes have been made to the previous submission.

FESTIVAL SCREENING
The individual or corporation submitting the film warrants that it is authorized to and, upon acceptance, can commit the film to at least two screenings at any time during the 2014 Nashville Film Festival (NaFF). Selected entries must send festival exhibition copies on approved formats by April 3, 2014 - unless otherwise explicitly arranged. Accepted films that need to pull due to completion or scheduling issues MUST pull by March 15, 2014 or they WILL be screened as submitted.

LIABILITY
Every possible care will be taken with entries while in our possession, however, we cannot accept responsibility for loss, damage or additional charges incurred en route, or due to normal wear and tear during play on the festival circuit, or due to equipment error. Do not send original prints or master copies. Additionally, NaFF is held harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity or screening of any film.

SHIPPING
The cost of shipping an entry to the Festival must be paid by the entrant. All international entries must be sent with all transportation charges, duties, and taxes prepaid by the shipper. For films accepted into the Festival, the entrant is responsible for inbound shipping. The Festival will pay the cost of shipping the print to the next destination. However, the Festival will not be responsible for unnecessary expedited or overnight shipping charges to other destinations.

REPRODUCTION AGREEMENT
Submission of an entry grants NaFF permission to have clips, stills and images from accepted works (including marketing material) locally telecast in part, and shown, either in part or whole, for educational or promotional purposes ONLY to NaFF stakeholders (sponsors, cultural partners, etc.)

ALL OF THE FOLLOWING MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR ENTRY:

-- Entry fee (Paid via Withoutabox or money order in U.S. funds made payable to the Nashville Film Festival). Films without entry fees may be deleted any time after 30 days of receipt of entry with no warning to the filmmaker.

--3-Line Synopsis (may be used for Festival Program and website)

--250 Word Synopsis (may be used for Festival Program and website)

--Selected entries must submit at least one digital hi-res still photo from the film and one digital hi-res headshot of the director(s) as well as a director biography / filmography.

-- No entry fees will be refunded if the disc has been received in NaFF offices and has been through the pre-screening process.

ACCEPTANCE
Notification of Festival acceptance status will be given to all feature entrants on or around March 01, 2013.
