CATEGORY RULES
YOUTH FEST! SCREENPLAY GENERAL RULES
1. Competition is open to screenplay(s) that are written by youth ages 8-18 and abide by the IFFF Youth Fest! and International Family Film Festival (IFFF) Vision Statements.

2. Screenplay Categories: drama, comedy, animation, sci-fi/fantasy, and musical.
All screenplay entries must have been completed after September 2011 to be eligible for the 2013 competition. Youth Fest screenplays are written by youth ages 8-18 years of age. This individual or group of youth writers is/are the primary individual(s) who is/are responsible for the writing of the submitted screenplay(s). Youth entrants are recommended by the IFFF Youth Fest!/IFFF to include Proof of Copyright OR a WGA (Writers Guild of America) filing number AND submit a Letter of Writer Authenticity signed by both the youth screenwriter and a parent, legal guardian or Teacher if the youth is 13 years old or younger in order to complete the entry process.

3. All screenplay entries must be written in English language and any subject matter may be covered within these general entry guidelines.

4. All screenplay entries must include a category, completed entry form, the correct entry fee, 2 printed hard copies of the screenplay (Your name should NOT appear anywhere on the screenplay as it is mandatory that adjudication is conducted without knowledge of the writer’s name or identity), proof of ownership (US Copyright or WGA registration) or Letter of Writer Authenticity (signed by writer and parent, guardian or teacher if entrant is 13 years old or younger) and a CD including the following items: (1) up to a 50-word screenplay synopsis (required) and a description of each character (required). Incomplete forms may cause delays.

5. Short screenplays will be no more than 44 pages and must be written in English. Any revisions after the entry has been entered are not accepted. Screenplays must be in 11 pt courier font, no promotional materials or illustrations are accepted, pages must be numbered, and be on 3 hole punched paper with brads.

6. It is recommended and the responsibility of the screenwriter to insure that their work is protected (US Copyright or Writers Guild or Screenwriters Federation of America). International submissions should protect their work with similar organizations within their country. If the student is 13 years old or younger, there must be a signed “Letter of Writer Authenticity” by the youth writer and also by the parent, legal guardian or teacher that confirms the youth’s authorship.

7. To have the screenplays returned, please include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) otherwise all screenplays will be destroyed at the conclusion of the IFFF Youth Fest!.

YOUTH FEST! SCREENWRITERS SHOWCASE:
The IFFF Youth Fest! Screenwriters Showcase will spotlight the short screenplay Finalists from all five categories with a "reading" of one scene from each screenplay by professional actors on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 4:00pm.

All screenwriters shall select a scene from the screenplay and specify the page numbers pertaining to that same scene should their screenplay be selected as a Finalist in a designated IFFF Youth Fest! category for the Screenwriters Showcase.

SCREENPLAY JUDGING:
1. All screenplays are juried by industry professionals. All decisions by the IFFF Youth Fest! Jury are final.

2. By submitting this entry form and the fee, you agree to abide by the IFFF Youth Fest! Jury decisions.

3. The IFFF Youth Fest! “Official Selections” will be listed on the IFFF Youth Fest! website by January 28, 2013 or soon after.
