Best Film
Golden Gateway trophy plus cash prize of Rs. 22,50,000 (approximately US$ 45,000) to the Director of the film Rs. 22,50,000 (approximately US$ 45,000) to the Producer of the film Rs. 5,00,000 (approximately US$ 10,000) to the Sales Agent / Indian distributor of the film who makes the entry and makes available the print for screening in the festival (The total cash prize is shared : 45% to the director, 45% to producer & 10% to the sales agent/Indian distributor) (All the cash prizes are subject to Indian Tax laws)


Jury Grand Prize for the Second Best Film
Silver Gateway trophy plus cash prize of Rs. 11,25,000 (approximately US$ 22,500) for the Director of the film Rs. 11,25,000 (approximately US$ 22,500) for the Producer of the film Rs. 2,50,000 (US$ 5,000) for the Sales Agent / Indian distributor of the film who makes the entry and makes available the print for screening in the festival (The total cash prize is shared : 45% to the director, 45% to producer & 10% to the sales agent/Indian distributor) (All the cash prizes are subject to Indian Tax laws )

Jury Award
Jury Award for best work in any one of the following categories: Script / editing / Camera / Sound receives a Silver Gateway trophy.


Mumbai Young Critics Award
A jury of media students from various Mumbai colleges will be selected to watch the films in the Festival. Their critiques will be published in the daily bulletin. These young critics will vote the film of their choice from among the films selected in the International Competition section and Above The Cut section, which would be awarded Mumbai Young Critics’ Award (Silver Gateway trophy) for the film (director).
This prize is shared with other categories.


Audience Choice Award
Silver Gateway trophy for the film (director) plus cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000 (approximately US$ 20,000) for the film. (The cash prize is shared : 45% to the director, 45% to producer & 10% to the Sales Agent / Indian distributor of the film who makes the entry and makes available the print for screening in the festival) In case an Indian film in this competition wins this award the cash award will be shared euqally between the director(s) & the producer(s) of the film i.e. Rs. 5,00,000 to the director(s) and Rs. 5,00,000 to the producer(s). All the cash prizes are subject to Indian Tax laws.

CATEGORY RULES
The film must be the first fiction-feature film of the director.

Films meant for theatrical release in 35mm or DCP projection formats may only participate. (The Competition does not accept video formats for screening).

Only feature length fiction films are considered for this competition section. The minimum length of the film should be 70 minutes.

The films must have been produced after November 01, 2013.

Participation at another international film festival outside India does not preclude entry into this Competition. However, preference would be given to world premieres, international premiers, Asian premiers and Indian premiers in that order.

The films should not have been presented in India either theatrically (commercially or in Festivals) or in video / telecast / internet.

In the case of Indian films, preference will be given to world premieres and / or international premieres and those films not commercially released in India. Applying in 60th National Film Awards, 2012 does not preclude Indian film from applying in 15th Mumbai Film Festival.
