Prizes & Awards

This category is a competition.

Best Short Documentary Award
Awarded to the best short documentary. The film should be less than 40 min and can originate from anywhere in the world.

Best Emerging Director Award
Awarded to the director of the best film in this category. The director could be from anywhere in the world (including UK). * Open City defines emerging as having started making films in the last 5 years of your life. To be eligible, the filmmaker should not have had a cinematic release or a TV broadcast in a primetime slot. The filmmaker can be any age and may be in education, a recent graduate or may not have any educational qualifications. We are looking for a fresh new voice in documentary, who challenges form as well as content.
This prize is shared with other categories.

Best MyStreet Film
* Submissions for the MyStreet competition are made by uploading directly onto the MyStreet website. Films made after May 2013 are eligible and all entries must be uploaded by the deadline announced on the MyStreet website. Selected films will be screened at Open City Docs Fest 2014. MyStreet is a living on-line archive of everyday life, encouraging you to make your mark and bring your area to life through film. It’s where you are, who you are and how you live - your film on the map. For more information on MyStreet see www.mystreetfilms.com.
