Category Rules

• Director or Producer should be from Middle East/South Asia (MESA) region or of MESA descent:
Middle East countries include all countries included in MENA region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MENA)
South Asian includes all countries in SAARC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Asian_Association_for_Regional_Cooperation)

• Films have to prominently feature at least two, or more from the following criteria's:
o Prominently feature Actor of MESA origin in the leading role(s).
o The film plot should be completely based upon either fiction or non-fiction, current affairs, political situation or history of the country(s) that make up for MESA
o Country(s) from MESA region should provide the essential backdrop for the story (least 70% of the film shot in MESA Country(s)) but, not necessarily be about people from the region.
o The Film plot highlight MESA-related stories and themes

• Films that have been produced post May 2012

• Films must be Chicago premiere

1. In order to be considered for the Festival, the Applicant must fill out the submission form located at http://www.withoutabox.com.

2. All Films must be uploaded via the Secure Online Screener function of Withoutabox (Preferred Method) or online screener link. If you are unable to submit via online method, email programming@i2f2.com for DVD submission instructions.

Note: It is the sole responsibility of the Applicant to cover the cost of shipping DVDs and ensure that shipped materials arrive at the shipping destination provided on the submission form. All DVD’s must be labeled with the title of the entry, running time and the name of the director. The festival is not responsible for damage or loss of materials while in transit. All submissions of screener material (i.e. DVD) will become the property of the festival and will not be returned to the entrant.

3. It is the sole responsibility of the Applicant to secure clearance from the copyright holders of any copyrighted materials included within the submitted Film. i2F2 will not be held responsible for the unauthorized inclusion of any copyrighted materials within or relating to the submitted Film.

4. Applicants submitting Films that contain significant non-English spoken dialogue must provide on-screen English subtitles.

5. In the event that the Applicant remits an updated version of the Film to i2F2 after having submitted a previous version of the Film to i2F2 during the same calendar year, i2F2 is under no obligation to view any or all of the updated version.

6. i2F2 does NOT provide comments or feedback regarding the submitted Film to the Applicant or any other representative of the submitted Film.

7. Upon selection, withdrawal of the film is not permissible. It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide a press kit with film stills, reviews, synopsis, length, screening format, cast & crew, filmmaker pictures & bios; posters and postcards for display; trailer (up to 3 minutes) for a compilation DVD handed to press and industry executives and screening masters. The applicant is responsible for all mailing costs and will provide a good print in the format requested.

8. Applicants whose films have been selected and who choose to attend the Festival have to be present for the Opening Night Red Carpet Screening and Opening Night Gala and will receive up to 3 full-access passes for all festival screenings, parties, panels and discussions, opening night screening/party. The Applicant is responsible for purchasing any additional passes above the allotted 3 passes. The Applicant has to be present for the press conference and for the screening of their film and participate in post-screening Q&A.

9. i2F2 reserves the right to disqualify any submission if it does not meet ALL of the above requirements
