Category Rules

Films submitted to the Experimental Cinema category can be financed, produced and filmed in any country and can be any length. International submissions in foreign languages must include English subtitles in submission screeners and selected film exhibition formats. Experimental Films should experiment with story, technique, style or message in a significant and obvious way, and not fall into any other LIFF Submission category. Music Videos with a total run time over 10 minutes would be considered experimental. If LIFF determines your film does not fit this category we will re-submit your film in the appropriate category.
