Best Documentary Feature
Jury prizes over the past several years have included a $10,000 camera rental package from Panavision in 2014; and, in 2015, a $500 cash prize and a consultation with the executive director of the International Documentary Association. Recent jurors in this category have included Oscar-winning director Tia Lessin, Indiewire founder Eugene Hernandez, ITVS programming manager N'Jeri Eaton, filmmaker David Gelb (Jiro Dreams of Sushi), programmer Basil Tsiokos, and Women Make Movies director Debbie Zimmerman. Recent jury winners include Hotel Nueva Isla (dir. Shamira Raphaela) in 2015; When the Bell Rings (dir. Brad Bores) in 2014; Purgatorio (dir. Rodrigo Reyes) in 2013; Ultimate Christian Wrestling (dir. Tara Autovino & Jae-Ho Chang) in 2012; and Marathon Boy (dir. Gemma Atwal) in 2011.

All documentary features compete for an Audience Award, based on ballots submitted by audience members. Previous award winners include Harry & Snowman, Out in the Night, A Will for the Woods, Come Hell or High Water: The Battle for Turkey Creek, and Mr. Cao Goes to Washington.

Category Rules

Prior Screenings:
- Entries may not have been publicly screened in the greater New Orleans area prior to the festival.

Exhibition Copies:
- If accepted, the final screening copy of your film must be in our office no later than September 5, 2018.

Updated Submissions:
- We are happy to review updated versions of your submission if time permits. However, there is no guarantee that our selection committee will view your updated version.

Competition:
- All competitive slots are filled by films that officially submit. No films are invited to submit for competition screenings.
