CATEGORY RULES
The main effect that a Chroma key screen has is brightness. Chroma key screens are typically colored in a brilliant green or blue color. The brightness of the screen is very obvious, and will make the subject of the video much more noticeable than they would be with a dark-colored screen or a backdrop with multiple colors on it.

There are a number of tips on our web site. If you consider them it will help you quality montage scenes.

Do NOT use red background unless you are very skilled and can show a different technique.

Requirement: if you submit a montage scene using chromakeying we would mark your work highly, very highly, if you were to show us your raw footage and the setup of your green/blue screen accompanied with a short narration describing how you did it and why.

Alternatively, can send us a short video clip showcasing your post-production work. Can explain in short how you placed your raw footage on the canvass, how you composited your work, the color adjustments and alpha key channels technique used etc. Do NOT film the rendering process!

Remember! Participants will be judged on merit & creativity. More points will be awarded based on a film analysis conducted by the judges, with emphasis to be placed on the following criteria: filmmaker's application of the rule of thirds, correct TV color application (RGB), color correction in post production, camera handling, HD aspect ratio, directing of film, attention to details such as: continuity, line of action, choreography, DOP work, filming composition shots difficulty degree, eg: aerial or crane shot used, non-linear editing, acting, sound & talent voice overs, SFX, VFX, animation, lighting application relevant to particular scenes - low key & high key, chromakeying montage techniques used, if applicable, dogma & film noir techniques used, if any, locations - if permits were required and obtained, and many other artistic & technical areas. The Budget used! Very important to remember: the pre-seleced top 10 fillmakers, will need to explain the budget they had to work with.

We prefer quality HD footage submissions.
If you know what we mean ;-)
Thank you and good luck!

Filmmakers note: it is not enough just to upload your vidlet online! Those posting DVD's or BluRay discs will receive extra points.
