Category Rules

THE ART OF BROOKLYN FILM FESTIVAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1) If you are a filmmaker living and working in Brooklyn, or can demonstrate a meaningful connection to the borough you are welcome to submit. For example: Your film was shot in Brooklyn, your screenwriter or director was born here, or live here now, your film is influenced by Brooklyn, etc. (In the past, in addition to Brooklyn born/based filmmakers, we have screened a documentary by an Italian filmmaker about a Hassidic Brooklyn rapper, a Turkish film inspired by Brooklyn’s diversity, and a claymation short by a young animator who was born and raised in Brooklyn, NSW, Australia.)

2) The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival considers and programs from all genres including comedy, drama, animation, horror, sci-fi, experimental and avant-garde. Our Film Screening Panel selects all films.

3) We will accept submissions until March 18, 2015.

4) The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival prefers to program premieres. Films that have not been shown elsewhere will be considered first.

5) All films submitted must be completed by April, 1st, 2015.

6) All submissions must include 2 DVD screeners in NTSC format or an online screener. All DVD's must include film title, Director’s name and your Withoutabox tracking number.

7) All filmmakers must have an exhibition format available in DVD or QuickTime.

8) If you film is accepted, entrants will be solely responsible for delivering exhibition video materials to and from the festival venue. The Art of Brooklyn cannot be held liable for exhibition print/video materials that are lost or damaged.

9) Complete electronic press kits are required within 5 business days after acceptance. Press kits must employ editable PDFs, Word documents and images in JPEG format. HARD COPIES OR SCANS OF TEXT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

10) Payment made by credit card through Withoutabox.com or through PayPal is preferred. Checks or money orders included in submissions will be accepted. Checks or Money Orders must be made out to: The Art of Brooklyn Festival.
