Screenplay Prizes
For our screenplay competition we have partnered with InkTip who is providing exciting and valuable prizes for our screenwriters which include: A prize package of one (1) InkTip Script Listing for the top three (3) winners of your best picture or best screenplay category to assist in providing them exposure. InkTip Script Listings provide writers/filmmakers with the opportunity to get their scripts read by InkTip’s extensive network of producers, reps, manager, agents, and other qualified industry professionals. And A prize package of one (1) InkTip Script Listing and one (1) InkTip Magazine Listing for the top three (3) winners of your screenwriting competition to assist in providing them exposure for their scripts. InkTip Script Listings provide writers/filmmakers with the opportunity to get their scripts read by InkTip’s extensive network of producers, reps, manager, agents, and other qualified industry professionals.

Category Rules


1) This is the next generation of film festival! Celebrating everything about independent film including the music and arts behind the scenes and the entire independent community we all love.

2) All screening submissions must be region one (1) or region (0) encoded and in NTSC format. We accept online submissions only.

3) Please do not send any promotional materials including press released or postcards. Your film is judged by its quality and your filmmaking abilities, not promotional materials.

4) Please be sure to enter under the correct category (e.g. Feature, Short, Music Video, Underground/Art film, Student film, Foreign film, Comedy, Documentary etc).

5) There are no restrictions on distribution status. There are no requirements or restrictions for premiere status to submit to the festival. We welcome all films and genres. Films with mature content must indicate such on the DVD. Pornography is not permitted under any circumstance; there is a difference between art and pornography.

6) All submission screeners must go through a three (3) stage screening process to qualify for selection. After completing the screening process notification of acceptance will be sent out by email, post or notified by phone. Please do not email the festival for status you will be notified of selection when your film completes the screening submission process.

7) The festival will accept works in progress but the final screener must be received by the festival 10 days prior to the festival should you be selected. Films not received will be disqualified.

8) All films selected and notified by the festival will be sent to the judging panel for consideration of awards. We do not release our list of industry judges in order to prevent unjust influences or favoritism.

9) This is a true competition festival attended by industry and media. We also use audience voting and polling.

10) Due to the large number of submissions the festival only notifies of acceptance directly. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We do use the WAB system to notify all filmmakers of status.

11) As films are selected they are notified of selection and sent to programming for inclusion into the festival film schedule. Filmmakers are notified in the order of selection and not submission dates. Please be patient as your film goes through our screening process. We are unable to reply to emails asking if your film has been selected or where it is in the screening process.

12) The official exhibition format for the festival is DVD or Blue Ray unless announced otherwise. We can also accept films in digital formats of mp4, mkv, mpeg, and wmv. All short films are screened on a digital media system. If an exhibition copy is not received by opening day of the festival the missing film will be removed form the screening schedule without further notice. It is the submitter's responsibility to make sure the festival has received their film for exhibition and the file or disk plays without problems.

13) After a film has been selected and the filmmaker is notified, the film will be listed on the festival web site under official selections. Once you are notified please use the included upload link to submit your poster or promotional photo in jpeg or png format only no larger than 3 MB in size and a 50 word film synopsis for inclusion on the festivals web site and in the official program. You may also send a web page link to your films web site which will be linked from ours.

14) Remember the promotional picture and synopsis you send us will also be used in the festivals official program. If you do not supply a synopsis your program listing will only show your title and promotional picture.

15) All entry fees paid are non-refundable.

16) All entered films grant Indie Fest USA a non-exclusive limited use agreement to use film titles or trailers or film posters for festival and film promotional use only including online, print or broadcast media to promote the festival and selected films to the industry and general public. Filmmakers fully retain all rights, title and interest in their films and all intellectual Property.

17) We are unable to do screen or sound tests during the festivals open screening times or between screenings. No filmmakers are permitted in the projection area at any time for your personal safety.

18) Please direct all questions or requests to the festival staff. No one other than official festival staff is authorized to accept requests or make decisions, or provide venue information in regards to INDIE FEST USA.

19) Please under no circumstances what so ever place, post or hand out any promotional materials, flyers, postcards etc. where restricted by signs. Filmmakers will have opportunity to place film posters and materials at the screening venues or at other event locations approved by the festival. Filmmakers violating this rule will be removed from the festival. Keep it fun for everyone and don’t break this rule.

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless INDIE FEST USA and SIFAD from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
