PRIZES & AWARDS
This category is a competition.

People's Choice Award
Every film (all lengths) is in contention for the coveted People's Choice Award, voted on by EIFF audiences. The 2013 People's Choice Award Winner was -- a tie! Greg "Freddy" Camalier's MUSCLE SHOALS and William Beauchamp's AMIN AMIR.

The Wedgie Award for Comedy
We're so f*#king cold up here that LAUGHING is the one thing that keeps us warm. Oh, and sex of course. Make us laugh, make us cry laughing... our programming team will choose their favorite COMEDY film or stand-out comedic actor from all submission categories. We don't have, like, a real cash prize at the time of writing this. Hoping to secure a sponsor by festival time. If not, we hope you'll accept our humble adoration. And maybe a wedgie.
Sponsor:In Production (we're workin' on it!)
This prize is shared with other categories.

The Big Daddy: Family Film Award
Narrative and documentary features and shorts are in competition for the prestigious Family Film Award. Edmonton has a respected reputation as the greatest Canadian city to raise kids. Our audiences look for every opportunity to expose young people from across northern Alberta to culture and interesting outlooks on life. This Award is chosen by the EIFF programming team.
Sponsor:In Production (we're workin' on it!)
This prize is shared with other categories.

The Grand Jury Prize for Short Film
This festival’s passion for short films and their filmMAKERS has resulted in more than a thousand short films being presented at EIFF in the past decade. This year’s Short Film Jury will duke out it again this year for their choice to reign as ‘The Best of the Best’!
Sponsor:In Production (we're workin' on it!)
This prize is shared with other categories.

Animated Short Film Award
Short Films (narrative, documentary or experimental) whose primary visual storytelling technique is a form of animation will be considered by the festival’s Short Film Jury for the prestigious Animated Short Film Award.

This prize is shared with other categories.
