Category Rules

Include with your entry: two DVDs for pre-screening, a self-addressed stamped postcard for notification of entry receipt if desired; and a self-addressed stamped container for return of entry if desired. All entries must have originally been shot predominantly on Super 8/8mm film or Digital/Hi 8/8mm video. Digital works include HD, miniDV, DigiBeta, etc. Video transfers of films are accepted. Do not send originals or prints with many splices. Include your name and title on both the dvd box and the dvd itself. Please do not send any entries in fiber-filled mailing containers. Only finalists are notified in advance that their work is in the public screenings. If a work is selected for public screening entrants are contractually obligated to provide an exhibition copy suitable for screening and cannot withdraw their film from the festival. Entry must be a New Jersey or Area Premiere and must not be available to view in full on the internet! Please note we do not pay screening fees. Only finalists are notified in advance that their work has been selected to be part of the Festival. Filmmaker shall indemnify and hold United States Super 8mm Film + Digital Video Festival harmless from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim in connection with the Film involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and/or loss of or damage to the screening videos submitted. In particular, Filmmaker expressly warrants it has obtained all necessary copyright clearances for original works of authorship used in the Film. Although every possible care will be taken with DVDs and Blu Ray discs while in our possession, we cannot accept responsibility for unforeseen loss or damage of entries. Please do not send originals.Submission of an entry gives the festival permission to have accepted work exhibited, photographed, locally telecast, and reproduced either in part or whole, for exhibition, educational or publicity purposes. Filmmakers can request in writing that their material not be used for such purposes six months after the Festival has concluded.The Rutgers Film Co-op/NJMAC will not be held responsible in the event of loss or damage to submitted work.
