Prizes & Awards
This category is a competition.
Prize awarded to the Student film which receives the highest score from the judging panel.
Cash Award Value: 250 U.S. Dollar
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
All submissions must be short student films (under 30 minutes) that relate to the theme of `being free?.
Films can be fiction, documentary, docu-fiction, mockumentary, experimental, of any genre - as long as it's a student film that relates to the theme of `being free' or freedom, whatever your interpretation of that may be.
So, your film might be examining different types of freedom - perhaps freedom of speech, information, or expression. Or your film may be asking what makes someone feel free, or feel that they are not free? Your film could be taking a look at a personal freedom, philosophical freedom, religious freedom, political freedom, economic freedom; or being free to travel, to work, to marry, to just to be yourself. We are looking for many different and interesting interpretations!
STUDENT ELIGIBILITY: Student films must have been completed from the 1st of July 2012 onwards, and the film submitted must be a graduation film or any film done as part of your degree or course (even if you are now no longer a student).
Please note: when submitting your film on Withoutabox, you will also have to give the name and phone number or email address of an academic contact (a tutor or staff member who can confirm that your film is a student film completed from 1st July 2012 onwards).
DEADLINES: All DVD submissions must arrive at our office by whichever deadline you apply to. It is not sufficient for the package to just be postmarked before or by the deadline. If a package arrives at our office after whichever deadline you have applied to, your submission will not be taken into consideration.
SUBMISSIONS: All films must be submitted via Withoutabox. Films not submitted via Withoutabox will not be considered.
SUBMISSION FORMATS: The only submission formats that are accepted are Secure Online Screeners (SOS) or Region 0 DVDs (these can be either NTSC or PAL). No other submission formats are accepted.

FEE WAIVERS: Fee waivers will not be granted under any circumstances.
WORKS IN PROGRESS: Works in progress will not be accepted for consideration.
LENGTH: Films are to be no more than 30 minutes in duration.
GENRE / TYPE: Films must not be over 30 minutes (i.e. no feature films), and must not be non-student films, music videos, commercials/promos, corporate videos or educational videos.
SUBTITLES: All films not in English language must be subtitled in English.
COMPLETION DATE: All films must have been completed from the 1st of July 2012 onwards.
POSTAGE / CUSTOMS: All postage and customs costs are the responsibility of the sender. Films will not be taken into consideration if received after the late deadline (postmarked before the deadline is not sufficient). Submission DVDs will not be returned.

Winners are selected by a judging panel of industry professionals who may be substituted at the discretion of the competition organizers. All entries are judged equally based on these 6 areas: Compliance to the theme of the festival (exploring, discussing or examining the different types of freedom and what it means to be free ? or not ? in the world today); Content Originality (quality of storyline, and script); Production (camera work, lighting, and shot composition); Post-Production (editing, transitions, pacing, continuity, and flow); Image (focus, colour, and lighting); Sound Quality (clarity, consistency of audio levels, and lack of noise).
Winners will be announced on 6th April 2014 and will be notified by email, and will also be listed on the festival website at www.labfff.com. The Let's All Be Free Film Festival will use its best efforts to announce the winners at the designated time, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays.

However, multiple directors will be listed on our website and in all press releases. The Let's All Be Free Film Festival will use its best efforts to send prizes out in a timely fashion. All federal, state, and local taxes, and customs fees, when applicable, are the sole responsibility of the winner. The Let's All Be Free Film Festival will not pay any winners' taxes. Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official competition rules and regulations as established herein. Employees, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible. If entrant is under 18 years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required.
The Let's All Be Free Film Festival reserves the right to extend the competition deadline for any unforeseen reasons if needed. Entry constitutes permission to use winner's name, likeness, and voice for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation. Entrant also agrees for Let?s All Be Free Film Festival to use the press kit the entrant will send, including trailer and a 30 seconds extract of the film (without plot spoiler) for advertising and publicity purpose.
