Our High School Awards jury will choose a winner in the H.S. Short Film category. Recipient will receive an all-access festival pass to the 2014 EIFF... and buckets of adoration!

Category Rules

To support and cultivate the next generation of filmmakers, EIFF hosts a special competition for students enrolled in grades 9-12 within the province of Alberta. The Top 3 High School Short films will World Premiere at this year's Edmonton International Film Festival.
LENGTH: Alberta High School Short Film Submissions may be fiction, documentary, animation or experimental and 20-minutes or less (including credits).

**Films submitted in this category must be under 20-minutes in length and created/produced between October 1, 2013 to June 15, 2014. This competition is open to high school filmmakers enrolled in the province of ALBERTA and in grades 9 through 12 during the 2013-14 academic year. Submission deadline is June 15 (postmark deadline). Submissions will be judged by a panel of independent filmmakers and industry figures and the High School Student Short prize-winner will receive two (2) all-access festival passes to the festival and a World Premiere screening at this year's EIFF.

SUBMISSION FORMAT: Please submit one (1) DVD or a Secure Online Screener (SOS). No promotional materials required with submission. An electronic press kit will be required upon acceptance only.

COMPLETION DATE: Films and videos must have been completed after SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 and prior to the submission deadline of JUNE 15, 2014.

ENTRY DEADLINE: All deadlines are POSTMARKED ONLY dates -- NOT the dates they need to be at the EIFF offices.

LANGUAGE: If the film is in a language other than English, it must be subtitled in English.

PACKAGE TO INCLUDE: One screener of your film which is clearly labeled with Film Title, Length, WAB Tracking ID, Contact Information (including e-mail address) and a photocopy of your student i.d. OR a letter from your teacher.

INCLUDE photocopy of current Student i.d. or a letter from your teacher confirming your status as an ALBERTA student in Grade 9 thru 12.
