Category Rules
For any LGBT narrative film with a running time of 45 minutes or longer.

Films must not at have major U.S. theatrical distribution that competes with HRIFF Festival screening dates, nor require any screening fees for exhibition at HRIFF. Submitter agrees to have legally dealt with these concerns before applying.


PREVIEW SCREENER GUIDELINES:
DVD or WAB Online Screeners ONLY accepted
for PREVIEW SCREENER COPY

All deadlines listed are firm POSTMARK deadlines.
List Running Time, Tracking Number, Films Name, and Aspect Ratio on film or packaging for any movies sent.
NTSC only. No PAL No BluRay preview screeners.
Watermarks are accepted on preview screeners only.
Menu Screens accepted on preview screeners only.
No VIMEO link uploads. If you submit a preview screener via WAB Online Screener system, you may feel free to send an additional DVD backup (with WAB Tracking Number) if concerned about your online upload.


EXHIBITION ACCEPTED PRINT GUIDELINES:
If your film is accepted into HRIFF programming, please note:
NO MENU SCREENS or watermarks on EXHIBITION COPY.

If submitting a BluRay EXHIBITION PRINT:
HRIFF requires AN ADDITIONAL DVD backup with identical chapter markings (due to the high percentage of BluRay technical concerns) NTSC Region 0 or 1.
DVD and 35mm film are HRIFF's preferred exhibition format.
Please contact HRIFF if you have a 35mm print.


RETURNS
Exhibition Screener DVD / BluRay copies will NOT be returned by mail and will NOT be returned at the festival.
Any and all Preview Screeners WILL NOT be returned.
35mm prints will be returned via messenger.

Please note that any and all posters and/or promotional materials will NOT be returned by mail, nor at the festival.


PRESS
If your film is chosen for exhibition it is recommended and suggested, but not required, for 1 to 2 standard size aka 27 x 41 aka One Sheet movie posters to be sent to our listed shipping address to help promote your film. These materials will NOT be returned.

Other size posters and materials are accepted. Feel free to send any press materials you prefer, but know that One Sheet Posters and postcards are most compatible for the majority of cinemas.
