Category Rules

Entries in the Narrative Short category must be between 5 and 30 minutes in length. The category is open to all genres.

One prize will be awarded for each of the following subcategories: Horror/Sci-Fi; Comedy; Drama; and/or Overall. In addition, films with a strong North Carolina connection are also eligible for special recognition. Filmmakers must present documentation of their North Carolina connection with their submission to be considered.

All festival submissions are eligible for the $500 Judges' Choice award. Additionally, all films made in North Carolina are eligible for the $500 Made-in-NC award (documentation of film’s shooting location required with submission to be considered). In addition, let us know about your Tar Heel Tie-In: Were you born in the Tar Heel State? Does your family live here? Are you just a Tar Heel through and through?
