Category Rules

Entries in the Middle and High School Student Film category must be between 5 and 30 minutes in length. The category is open to all genres.

Films in this category must be primarily written, filmed, and produced by students currently enrolled in middle and/or high school. For this category, films must have been produced between January 1, 2014, and March 1, 2015. Filmmakers submitting to this category must include a photocopy of their student ID, a recent grade report, or current schedule for documentation purposes.

One prize will be awarded for each of the following subcategories: Best Narrative; Best Documentary. In addition, films with a strong North Carolina connection are also eligible for special recognition. Filmmakers must present documentation of their North Carolina connection with their submission to be considered.

All festival submissions are eligible for the $500 Judges' Choice award. Additionally, all films made in North Carolina are eligible for the $500 Made-in-NC award (documentation of film’s shooting location required with submission to be considered). Films in this category are eligible for the $500 Best Student-Made Film award.
