This category is a competition.

One to Watch Award
All selected films in the For Youth By Youth program are eligible for the One to Watch award. It is an audience-based award. Past winners include Karen Lum (SLIP OF THE TONGUE), Calvin Sun (ASIAN AMERICAN BEAUTY), Iemi Hernandez-Kim (AYI'S STORY), Jayshree Janu Kharpade (FIRE IN OUR HEARTS) and Stefanos Tai (ANIMALS).

Category Rules

The AAIFF accepts completed film and video submissions produced, written, or directed by youth media makers of Asian descent from any nationality between 15-20 years old.

• Works must have been completed after January 1, 2014.
• Works must be of short form, with total running time 40 minutes and under.
• Check to make sure the DVD plays smoothly on standard DVD players from beginning to end without skipping or getting stuck. Malfunctioning DVDs may be disqualified.
• Each entry must be clearly labeled with: director's name, work title, total running time, WAB tracking number.
• Each project must be on a separate DVD. Do not submit compilations and/or other projects not intended for this CFE.
• If selected, exhibition DVDs and tapes must be sent PRE-PAID to the festival
• If selected, AAIFF will cover return shipping of exhibition DVDs/tapes
• All applicants will be notified by email late-June 2015.
• You must contact us immediately if you desire to withdraw your work from our consideration.
• The festival does not pay rental fees.
