Category Rules

Horror is defined as anything that will make the hair stand up on your neck, make your spine tingle, or make you want to hide your eyes behind your hands and peak through.

Short Horror embodies all of the aspects of feature length films, except the length. Horror Shorts fall into the 30-59 minute range, compared to the "mini-shorts" which are under 30 minutes.

Films must be the original work of the submitter and must be accompanied by a completed entry form and entry fee. If there are an insufficient number of entries, the "shorts" and "Mini-shorts" categories may be combined for judging and award purposes.

Screeners and judges reserve the right to nominate individuals for awards including the Best Actor, Best Actress and Rising Star awards.

Opportunities will be made available to all accepted entries for inclusion in a television advertising program at reduced rates. Film makers will need to create a 30 second trailer with a ShockerFest tag to be included in this advertising program.

Short films MAY also be considered for inclusion on the ShockerFest 2013 festival disk to be sold at the festival and on the Fireside Foundation and ShockerFest web sites. Filmmakers will be contacted regarding the compilation, and will have the opportunity to opt in or out.
Entries may be divided into categories based on budget - please include your budget on your WAB Project Details (encouraged but not required). Films which do not specify budget will be placed in high budget category.

Submissions will be aired on a local television station with a potential audience is approximately 1.5 million people.
