The award will be granted to a short narrative/fiction film screened at the Tim Gruver Spotlight on Kansas Filmmakers Shorts Program and as determined by the Tallgrass Programming Directors.

Best Kansas Filmmaker Documentary Short Film Award
The winning Kansas Filmmaker Documentary Short Film will be granted to a short documentary film screened at the Tim Gruver Spotlight on Kansas Filmmakers Shorts Program and as determined by the Tallgrass Programming Directors.

Tallgrass Short Fiction Film Audience Award
The Audience Award Winning Short Fiction Film may be a narrative, domestic or foreign film. The award is granted to the short film screened at the festival scored highest by the audience.
Cash Award Value: 1,000 U.S. Dollar

Category Rules

-Films must have been completed after January 2017.

-Online screeners from alternate secure sources are preferred. Include screener link and password in your cover letter.

-A Wichita premiere is required. World and US Premieres are not required, however premieres (especially Kansas premieres) are preferred and premiere status may be one of the factors considered when determining a film's inclusion in the Festival.

-In order to be considered for festival selection, Kansas filmmakers MUST submit a valid Kansas address and identification. Credentials can be emailed to submit@tallgrassfilmfest.com.

-Kansas films maybe documentary, narrative, animation or experimental.

-Please indicate in your cover letter if you are submitting a feature film under the Kansas category that qualifies for the Stubbornly Independent Award or the DOX Documentary Awards. (Please see the qualifications for these awards in our festival category list).

-2 submission preview copies of the film are required if you are submitting on disc media (DVD).

-All films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for Festival presentation.

-The Festival will consider work-in-progress, films with temporary soundtracks, digital outputs, and work that did not originate on film. Filmmakers must deliver final format (as indicated) for Festival screening. No exceptions will be permitted.
