Best Documentary Short
Winner in this category is eligible to submit their film for consideration for the Academy Awards. A special jury selects the doc short subject award.


Category Rules
Conditions for Eligibility: ALL FILMS MUST:
1) be completed by entry deadline (NO works-in-progress)
2) be a St. Louis theatrical premiere
3) be submitted with English subtitles if in a language other than English
4) be submitted with a completed entry form and appropriate payment
5) not be widely commercially or publicly available on video/DVD, cable, YouTube, Vimeo, or On Demand in the St. Louis region prior to the festival dates.

Entry Procedure:
Please read and understand the agreement at the end of this form before signing and submitting. For preview purposes, films may be submitted 1) on DVD, 2) digital file on flash drive/CD/DVD, or 3) secure online screener with password. DO NOT submit a Blu-ray. Submit entry fee and a completed entry form with a viewable preview copy (DVD or link). Please print clearly and provide all information requested. If you want your screener returned, you must include a self-addressed, stamped, padded envelope. Nothing will be returned otherwise. It is advised that you keep a copy of this completed application for your own reference. Entry fee payment must be made at time of submission by check, money order, credit card, or PayPal. If your film is selected, publicity images must be sent immediately. 300 dpi or higher electronic images are preferred in .jpg or .png format. All invited short subjects should be submitted electronically or on a flash drive as an .mov file (Pro Res or H.264). Please contact Cinema St. Louis for questions and clarifications. All entrants will be notified of the status of their submission by e-mail no later than September 30, 2015. Notification of acceptance or rejection will not include criticism or feedback specific to your entry.

AGREEMENT:
I affirm that the information above and on the previous pages is correct, that I have read, understood, and do hereby agree to be bound by the festival regulations as described herein and that I have the legal right to represent and to submit this film to the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase. Music rights and all copyright clearances are the sole responsibility of the filmmaker. Cinema St. Louis (CSL) will not be held responsible for any legal disputes regarding the exhibition of this film. Submitting a film for consideration does not guarantee inclusion in the 2015 St. Louis International Film Festival line up. Noncompliance with form may affect, delay, and/or disqualify your entry. Submission DVDs or drives are returned only if the filmmaker has provided the festival with a prepaid self-addressed envelope. The submitter will be responsible for timely delivery of the projection master to the festival. St. Louis International Film Festival will return the print pre-paid to the supplier or to the next destination as indicated by the supplier at the festival’s conclusion, or they may be picked up from the festival office. The festival does not provide extra insurance for originals or masters. Permission for the festival to use excerpts of each submitted film, not to exceed 3 minutes, for promotional purposes is considered granted on submission, unless otherwise noted. The festival reserves the right to complete any information not supplied by the filmmaker from whatever source available and will not be responsible if incorrect information is entered. Participation in St. Louis International Film Festival implies understanding and acceptance of above regulations and requirements of this application.
