Category Rules

1. ENGLISH ONLY. All scripts must be submitted in English but writers who reside in countries other than the United States are welcome.

2. ORIGINAL, NON-AWARDED SCRIPTS. Scripts must be the original work of the author(s) and may not be encumbered by any third party. Scripts that have been sold, produced, or are currently optioned are not eligible, nor are scripts that have previously won a prize at WriteMovies or elsewhere.

3. INDUSTRY FORMAT. Scripts will not be disqualified for bad formatting but it is better to respect the norms of the industry: standard screenplay format, 12-point Courier font. Standard lenght are 80-130 pages for full-length features, about 40-50 pages for a TV pilot.

4. ELIGIBILITY. Scripts, short scripts and TV pilots only. No plays, novels, short stories and adaptations. Members and employees of WriteMovies.com and their immediate families are not eligible, nor are any competition judges and their immediate families.
