Category Rules

Films must be at least 70 minutes long and have been completed within the last 18 months.

All foreign language films must be subtitled in English.

Films, preferably, must not have been released in the UK in any format, including online, or shown on UK television prior to its screening in the festival. Exceptions may, however, be made in the case of films that are of a particularly high quality.

Filmmakers will not be able to withdraw their films once the Festival has confirmed their selection.

The Cambridge Film Trust is committed to supporting local filmmakers and therefore submission fees will be waived for filmmakers who are based in the Film Hub Central East region (Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Norfolk and Suffolk). Please email proof of address (a scan/pdf of a current utility bill) with the FILM TITLE - WAIVER as subject to submissions@cambridgefilmfestival.org.uk and the Submissions Coordinator will send you a waiver code for your Withoutabox application.
