James Blue Filmmaker Award
New in 2019: The James Blue Filmmaker Award. This juried award will be given to a filmmaker whose first or second documentary or narrative feature exemplifies the values of Oregonian director James Blue (1930-80), whose work addressed complex issues of social justice and social/political change. The award, funded by the James Blue Alliance in the amount of $2,500, will be given to the selected film director on awards night of the Ashland Independent Film Festival.

Category Rules

--Alumni (Directors Only) and Local Filmmaker fees are waived.

--Animated films in this category will be accepted. To be considered as animation at least half of the film must be animated. Any form of animation is accepted.

--Students must be, or have been, enrolled in an accredited school (K-12, college, graduate program) at the time of production.
--You do not need to be a student currently to submit your film as long as your film was produced when you were a student.
--Student films of any length and genre and at any level of school including K-12, college, and film school are accepted.
--To receive a student discount, filmmaker/film must be registered as a student project on Withoutabox.
--The student fee listed is a $10 discount on the entry. The AIFF provides this discount to students--in addition to any Withoutabox discount.
