Knight Grand Jury Prize
The Grand Jury winning film will receive a cash award in the amount of $30,000. This prize money will be shared equally ($15,000 each) between the film’s Production Company and the film’s U.S. distributor. If no U.S. distributor has secured the rights to the film by April 18, 2014, then the entire amount of $30,000 will be awarded to the film’s Production Company. The U.S. distributor must open the movie in Miami for a minimum one-week commercial run prior to March 1, 2014 in order to receive their portion of the award. The Grand Jury will be awarding a Best Director cash prize for a total of $5,000. The Grand Jury will also be awarding a Best Actor cash prize for a total of $5,000.

CATEGORY RULES
Dramatic works from Latin America, Spain and Portugal, as well as Latino-themed works produced in the United States, that will compete for $40,000 in prizes courtesy of Knight Foundation

•Must be 60 minutes or longer in TRT
•This category is open to any film directors
•Preference will be given to World, International and U.S. premieres, but must be at minimum a Florida Premiere at MIFF 2014.
•Must not have been or be scheduled for public consumption through any form of public broadcast (including internet) or commercial theatrical engagement in the US prior to March 20, 2014**
•Film’s world premiere must have occurred after March 2013
•Projects must originate from Spain, Portugal, the Caribbean, or any Latin American country, OR originate from the US and contain a central Latino theme or character
•Exhibition format must be DCP


** Exceptions may be made for films with limited VOD releases outside of Florida or limited online releases associated with international Festival premieres
