Green Film Festival in Seoul (GFFIS) is the first and biggest film festival in Korea focusing on environment issues. Established in 2004 by Korea Green Foundation, GFFIS is a festival that seeks to share the hope for a better world where all the lives can live in harmony with environment and nature. Through cinema, the festival hopes to promote ideas of environmental protection and life respect to encourage public awareness and action for positive changes. GFFIS is an annual event with one international and one domestic competition among other non-competitive sections, and its 11th edition will be held from May 08 to 15, 2014. GFFIS would like to welcome all to join the festival where the concerns and visions about the future of our environment can be found and shared.

The festival's preliminary juries will select the films for competition and the entrant will be notified of the selection results individually no later than March 31. A selected film cannot be withdrawn from the program after April 10. The final winners of the competition will be selected by GFFIS Juries during the festival, and will be announced at the festival’s awarding ceremony on May 14, 2014. Films in the competition will compete to win seven prizes, worth of about 29 million Korean won in total, as follows:

Green Competition: Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Special Jury Award, Special Audience Choice

Art. 6
GFFIS accepts the following formats for finalists: HD-Cam, Digi-beta, Beta SP, Blu-ray and 35mm. All prints/tapes should be sent to the address in 'Article 2' by April 10, 2014.

Art. 6-1
Once a film is selected for the competition, detailed shipping instructions will be sent to the print suppliers specified in the entry form. The one-way trip transport and insurance costs for the film must be prepaid by its sender. GFFIS will pay for the return cost only. Shipments to other festivals are exceptional, to which standard practice of cost sharing will be applied.

Art. 6-2
For films that are selected for non-competitive sections in GFFIS, detailed shipping instructions will be sent to the print suppliers. The round trip transport and insurance costs will be remunerated by GFFIS only when the shipment has been made through the official courier service designated by the festival and the return is to the origin of the print. Shipments to and/or from other festivals are exceptional, to which standard practice of cost sharing will be applied.

Art. 7
In case of damage or loss of a film during the festival, GFFIS is only responsible for the costs involved in making a new print or replacing the damaged reel(s) based on the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard print.

Art. 8
If not with dialogues in Korean or English, films must be subtitled in English. Additionally, all entrants must provide the festival with a script either in English or Korean. GFFIS reserves the right to reject entries that do not have English subtitles.

Art. 9
Once a film is selected for the official program, GFFIS can use footages from a film, with a maximum of 3 minutes (or up to 10% of the running time of the film), for promotional purposes. In the event that footages are not available, and it is understood that under no circumstances the entire print may be lent out, GFFIS is qualified to copy, under its strict supervision, one or more excerpts from the film for promotional use on television, the internet, mobile media and in theaters.

Art. 10
All the submitted or provided previews and copies of screeners to GFFIS will be kept in the Green Archive run by GFFIS. GFFIS welcomes the donation of the applicants’ films and any other related materials. The donated materials will be kept in the Green Archive permanently and will be used for non-profit, educational and research purposes.

Art. 11
All the films which are submitted to or screened at GFFIS can be included in the tour screening of the festival or the Green Archive under the agreement of the filmmaker or his/her representative. As for the GFFIS award winning films, the festival has been given the approval to screen the winners in its tour screening or in Green Archive for 1 year after the event, but only with non-profit, educational and research purposes.

Art. 12
This regulation is valid once the initial application of a film is submitted to GFFIS, which contains the approval of the filmmaker or his/ her representative in signature.
