Category Rules

Awards are given to PEOPLE. It means to the Human Being responsible for a category included in the Prize list (Directing, Cinematogrephy, Music, Production Design, ecc.) with a Nomination criteria, NOT to a Film title.

You must send in also a simple bio/contacts of all the filmmakers such as Editor, Production Designer, and any other included in our Nomination-category's list. If there is any specific discipline (Editing, Music, Supporting Actress, Costumes, etc.) please feel free to highlight what you would like to be taken in consideration for.

Only Best Film Category (Top Audience Award among the WINNER FILMMAKER'S FILM SCREENED at the festival) wins as a Film Title (Award given to the producer).

The Nominee filmmakers' films are shown only to LDV Film Society members (for voting) who serves as an Institutional Jury, therefore able to keep the premiere status. Italian premiere is not required if the film has been produced and ready by January 1st of the previous year of the current festival edition. If the film is an ABSOLUTE ITALIAN PREMIERE, (never been screened on Italian territory at any festival or event), any production is eligible to be accepted.

OPPORTUNITY (FOR FEATURE AND DOCUMENTARY FILMS CATEGORY NON-ITALIAN LANGUAGE ONLY): if the film will be provided with Italian subtitles - and both English for non-English films - the fee will be waived, and returned. Please contact programmer@miff.it to know how.
