Category Rules

Documentary Features may be in any language. If the language is one other than English then English subtitles are required. Length of features may be anywhere from 30 minutes to 150 minutes. Documentary Features include live action, animation, and experimental or hybrid features. Films that have screened prior to March 2016 are not eligible for screening. Films with distribution in place are accepted, but filmmaker must notify IFFBoston of the films distribution status and distributor contact info. Films will not be accepted if they formally premiere in Massachusetts prior to festival. Accepted documentary features may not screen in the state of Massachusetts between date of acceptance and screening at Independent Film Festival Boston.
