CATEGORY RULES
The Works-in-Progress program plays on the double meaning of the word “progress” by supporting films in-production by progressive filmmakers exploring social justice. The program creates an intimate opportunity for artists to share unfinished works and engage unexpected audiences in the filmmaking process. The program will showcase ten projects and provide direct financial support to at least 15 filmmakers with a special focus on supporting North Carolina filmmakers. The program includes outreach events, public screenings, strategy gatherings, and community engagement sessions. Films in the 2012 program focused on homelessness, poverty, race, agriculture, women’s rights, global economics, and education.

HOW TO ENTER:
Entries can include a rough-cut on a DVD, and an introductory letter outlining your interest in this program (which you can type in the Withoutabox Cover Letter section of the online submission form). Filmmakers can also submit scripts, clips and storyboards. We highly encourage you to contact festival staff to discuss your project and your goals for a Works-in-Progress event. Accepted entries will be notified by October 17, 2013. Filmmakers must be able to travel to Wilmington from November 11-17, 2013.
