Category Rules

The SLOIFF has expanded our YOUTH Film Competition to include 3 new categories: High School (9-12), Middle School (7-8), and K-6 (Primary). Student films will be judged by a panel of teachers, students, parents and SLOIFF board members.

This competition is open to students 18 yrs. and younger, from all over the world. San Luis Obispo County residents are eligible for special prizes.

Submissions in all categories must be received by January 15, 2014. There is no entry fee for Filmmakers of Tomorrow Student Film entries, however if a film is submitted in this category and does not qualify, it will not be considered for any other category.

Films can be stories told with photographs, animation, live action, music videos, documentaries...anything goes. The subject matter is open to your imagination but please...keep it clean. Films should be able to be rated G or PG.

All music used should be fully credited at the end of the film. Films longer than 10 minutes will not be considered for screening.

COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT IN THIS CATEGORY. Films submitted in the wrong category will not be considered. College students should submit to the George Sidney Independent Film Competition.
