CATEGORY RULES
For the International Documentary Film Competition, only first, second and third directorial works with a minimum length of 60 minutes (year of production either 2013 or 2014) are eligible for entry.

The International Documentary Film Competition consists of films from across the globe (excluding films from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria).

Films that have been shown in Swiss cinemas before the festival, or have already been entered in another Swiss festival or broadcast on German-speaking television before the beginning of the festival are not eligible.

Zurich Film Festival reserves the right to remove a film from the program and/or demand restitution of CHF 10,000 from the entrant if the festival is not informed of a previous screening of the film on Swiss or German-speaking television.

The festival reserves the right to exclude any film from the program if, after the film has been chosen for the competition by the festival, it is later discovered that a jury member has any connection with the film whatsoever.

The film cannot be withdrawn once the applicant has accepted the invitation for his/her film to participate in the Zurich Film Festival competition or program. The Zurich Film Festival reserves the right to demand restitution of CHF 10,000 if the film is withdrawn from the festival program.
