PRIZES & AWARDS
This category is a competition.

Louis le Prince International Short Film Competition - Best International Fiction Short
Running for over ten years at Leeds International Film Festival, the award is named after the French-born, Leeds-based inventor who filmed the world's first ever moving images in Leeds in 1888. The LIFF team loves short films and the programme committee considers an extraordinary diversity of work from around the world. The winning film will be considered for nomination for an Academy Award as LIFF is a qualifying film festival.

Best British Short
For its annual Best British Short Film Competition, Leeds International Film Festival celebrates the work of new and original talent in short filmmaking from across the UK. All selected British shorts will be considered for BAFTA nomination as LIFF is a qualifying film festival.

Silver Melies - Best Short Film
As the UK’s sole affiliated member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation, Leeds International Film Festival's Fanomenon programme section exclusively hosts an annual Silver Melies Competition. We are particularly interested in short genre titles produced in the UK and Europe for competition consideration.
