Narrative Short Film Jury Award
The Narrative Short Film Jury Award will be chosen by a jury of filmmakers and industry experts from the films selected for the narrative short film competition section of the festival. The winner of this award qualifies to be considered for the Academy Award in the Best Live Action Short Film category provided it meets other Academy eligibility requirements. The winner of the ATLFF Narrative Short Film Jury Award award in 2014 was MYSTERIO (Chema GarcĂ­a Ibarra).
Value of Goods/Services: 2,500 U.S. Dollar


Audience Award
The Audience Award is open to voting by audience members in attendance at the festival. This award is presented shortly after the festival ends.


Filmmaker To Watch Award
This award is chosen in an online voting process by a closed jury of Kickstarter backers prior to the festival. The winner is awarded a travel stipend to come to the festival to receive the award during the ATLFF awards ceremony. Films are chosen from the general pool of accepted shorts by the short film programmer to compete in this section.
Value of Goods/Services: 500 U.S. Dollar


CATEGORY RULES
1) To be considered for competition, films must have been completed AFTER January 2013. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2) It is the responsibility of the filmmaker and/or submitter to secure permission and authorization for any and all copyrighted/trademarked content included in the film being submitted. This includes, but is not limited to music, video and images.

3) If you're a distributor or sales agent submitting a film, please contact us by email (screeners@atlantafilmfestival.com) immediately after submission to alert us. If your film has been picked for distribution, please contact us as soon as possible.

4) All filmmakers will be notified of acceptance status using contact info provided via Withoutabox.

5) Important: Academy Award Qualifying Requirements

For a submitted short film to be considered for ATLFF's Narrative Shorts Competition a short film MAY NOT BE EXHIBITED PUBLICLY anywhere in any nontheatrical form, including but not limited to broadcast and cable television, home video, and Internet transmission, until after its Los Angeles theatrical release, or after qualifying for the Academy Award Shortlist with a win at a qualifying festival or after winning a Student Academy Award. Excerpts of the film TOTALING NO MORE THAN TEN PERCENT of A film's running time are exempted from this rule.

Length

With titles, films must be 39:59 or shorter to qualify for the Narrative Shorts Competition.
