Golden Leo Award
Best Film of the Festival. Six to eight finalists will be selected by the screening committees. A six-member Awards Committee comprised of media professionals vote for the Golden Leo Award at a public screening of finalists under the supervision of the Price Waterhouse Cooper accountancy firm.

Directors Choice
This award for outstanding achievement in short film direction is at the discretion of the festival director.

Student Filmmaker Award
To honor student filmmakers worldwide. This is an audience award, with the winner receiving highest score by viewers primarily made up of high school and college aged students from Europe, the U.S., Asian and Africa attending school in Swaziland and South Africa.

CATEGORY RULES
CRITERIA

All genres of film and video shorts up to 45 minutes in length are welcome. Greater lengths may be negotiated with the festival director. High-quality work is sought, and works of social commitment that illuminate the human condition in all its dramatic, comedic or musical manifestations. Cinematic innovation and works with a strong directorial point of view are encouraged. Fiction and non-fiction stories whose makers clearly show their passion for their subjects are sought.

Works must be completed after January 1, 2012. Exceptions may be allowed if permission received from festival director. Non-English language films must be subtitled in English.

Submissions accepted for the 2013 festival from January 17, 2013.


ENTRY FORMATS
Entries must be submitted on DVD. Please make us aware if we might use preview DVD screeners for festival exhibition if quality is acceptable to technical staff.


ENTRY PROCEDURE
The Gold Lion Film Festival uses Withoutabox for all entries. Please refer to www.withoutabox.com for entry application.

EACH ENTRY must be accompanied by:

* Entry Fee: Checks are payable to: GOLD LION FILM FESTIVAL. Do not send postal money orders from Canada or other nations, which cannot be processed by Swaziland's postal system.

* Title of work and name and e-mail of entrant must be on all materials and containers.

* A synopsis describing the work with main credits.

* For submissions using courier delivery services like FedEx or DHL, a street address is required. To request the festival street address, please contact festival at goldlion@realnet.co.sz.
