Category Rules

Submissions to the Greater Reading Film Festival can be shot or created in any format (Film, digital video, animation, flash, etc.).

All films must be in English or subtitled in English.

Maximum length of submission is 180 minutes.

Premiere status is taken into consideration for every submission with priority given to national premieres.

It must not have major theatrical release or broadcast airing.

By submitting a film to the Greater Reading Film Festival, the filmmaker is agreeing to having the film screened during the festival without a screening fee or commission.

A presskit is not required to submit your film but if your film is selected, you will be asked to provide: headshot, bio and filmography of director; b&w and/or color stills from the film; press materials; and a video trailer (if one is available- this is highly recommended.)

Preview DVDs must be labeled with the title and running time. Screening copies will not be returned. Please do not sent originals.

Submission format: USA-Region playable DVD (DVD-R, DVD+R) at XP (Highest) quality (Full screen Hi-resolution). No other media formats (VHS tape, etc.) will be accepted. We are also able to exhibit in DCP (Digital Cinema Package, JPeg2000 formats.)

All film entries selected for the Festival grant the Greater Reading Film Festival the rights to footage, stills and/or titles and information from the film for promotional purposes.

By submitting to the Greater Reading Film Festival you also give the Festival rights for twelve months to exhibit your film as part of the monthly film series. A commission of 20% of the ticket sales will be sent to you. This applies only to the film series and not the festival screenings.

The Documentary Feature Film category has one cash award for Best Documentary Feature with an award amount of $250.
