Category Rules

The festival is open to all categories within the documentary film genre. The film should not be more than 3 years old, though in certain circumstances, a retrospective may be screened and/or a "hidden gem" never seen before by public.

Festival shall screen films in Digital Cinema Projection and, therefore, if accepted, you must submit film as a media file in order to be transferred to a DCP drive play-back system if you do not already have a DCP file for exhibition Filmmaker is RESPONSIBLE for providing the DCP for screening at the festival. If filmmaker does not already have a DCP file of their film, festival will help negotiate a discounted rate for a production house that will transfer film for you. If your film is accepted, you must also provide a rendered blu-ray disc of the film as a back-up to digital file.

If you are sending a "work-in-progress" please note how long you are away from completion and approximately when you are sending completed version. (Please note on completed copy your original reference number provided by WAB.)

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their screeners via WAB's upload service so that their films can be viewed on-line.

Filmmakers are encouraged to attend festival if their film is invited. They shall receive an "all festival" pass, including films and events. Moreover, housing shall be provided either in resident homes or hotels near theaters.
