Category Rules

Representations and Warranties. By submitting an Entry (film for submission), entrants represent and warrant to the Roxbury InternationalFilm Festival (“RIFF”) the following:

A. Discharge/Payment of Obligations/Clearance for Film Festival. All of the following have been discharged or paid or will be discharged or paid by Entrant or persons other than the RIFF:

1. Copyright. All claims and rights of the copyright holders, if any, in literary, dramatic, musical, or other material, including stories, plays, scripts, scenarios, themes, incidents, plots, characters, dialogue, music, names, likeness, commercial or other products, or words appearing, used, or recorded in the Entry.

2. Contracts. All obligations of any kind, including, without limitation, those with artists and personnel, relating to purchases, licenses, laboratory contracts, distribution, exhibition, performance, or exploitation of the Entry.

3. Guild/Union/Performing Rights Society-Participation Payments. Any payments required to be made to any performing rights society or to any body or group representing authors, composers, musicians, artists, and other participants in the production of the Entry, publishers or other persons having legal or contractual rights of any kind to participate in the receipts of the Entry or to payments of any kind as a result of the distribution or exhibition of the Entry and any taxes thereon or on the payment thereof.

B. No Pornographic or Illegal Material. The content of the Entry must not be obscene, pornographic, invade privacy rights, exploit the images of individuals under the age of eighteen (18), or in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations.

C. Entrants agree that should the Entry be accepted into the festival, this waiver grants RFF the irrevocable right to screen the Entry in a public arena, as well as to promote said screening in press, marketing, and promotional materials.

D. Indemnity. Entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the RIFF, their respective directors, parents, subsidiaries, employees, agents, assigns, affiliates, attorneys, staff, volunteers, publicist, exhibitors, corporate and other sponsors, and all other persons authorized to act on its behalf (hereinafter “representatives”), from and against any and all third party claims, damages, liabilities, demand or cause of action, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees and expenses, arising out of, related to, or in connection with any breach by the Entrant of this Agreement, including a breach of any Warranties and Representations made by the Entrant in this Agreement. In addition, entrant warrants that the rights granted to RIFF under this Waiver, including the public display, public performance, distribution, and reproduction of the Entry on the Internet, will not violate or infringe upon the copyright, literary, privacy, publicity, trademark, service mark, or any other personal or property right of any person or entity, and that the Entry will not constitute a libel or defamation of any third party.

Furthermore, entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the RIFF and their representatives from and against any and all third party claims, damages, liabilities, demand or cause of action, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees and expenses, arising out of, related to, or in connection with RIFF’s exhibition and promotion of said film, and the undersigned’s participation in this event and film screening relevant thereto.

Moreover, the entrant specifically agrees to waive, discharge, and hold harmless the Roxbury International Film Festival and its representatives in the event of any loss or damage to entry materials, including submission tapes and/or films provided for festival screening.
