Category Rules

Entries must be postmarked by deadline dates pertinent to their submission status (i.e. regular deadline, late deadline, or WAB extended deadline). (5) Semi-finalists shall be announced by April 13, 2015. Those semi-finalists will compete for a top 5 finalists' round against the 5 semi-finalists from the Winter Phase of the competition. On April 23, 2015, five finalists will be officially announced on the festival's Web site and the authors of those scripts will be invited to attend VISIONFEST 15, where they will compete for the three top slots.

On the festival's closing night, three winners (first, second, and third place) shall be announced during the final Awards Ceremony. Winners will be honored with special services prizes, and the first place winner shall have that script presented in a professionally staged reading in a New York performance venue, before an audience of industry guests.

* SPECIAL NOTE: The 2005 1st Prize recipient, SINGLE BULLET THEORY, by Mike Bencivenga, was staged as a 'live' reading on December 5, 2005, in NYC, and featured Eric Stoltz in the lead role. A movie version is currently in development. Our 2009 winner, TAG, by Nyle Cavazos Garcia, has also just moved into development.

Applicants must submit:

One copy of an original feature film screenplay, approximately 80-130 pages in length, formatted in industry standard screenplay format and written in English.

(Please note: Only original works are accepted. Submissions may not be based, in whole or in part, on material, fictional or nonfictional, produced or unproduced, published or unpublished, unless such material was originally created and published/produced by the applicant, in another medium).

No revisions or updated versions will be accepted beyond the initial submission.

A completed WAB submission and an 'entry fee' money order (if not paying directly online by credit card).

Please make check or money order payable to: DOMANI VISION FILM SOCIETY -- Please note, when paying by check your submission will not be deemed in consideration until your check has cleared.

Applicant may submit multiple entries, however, those must be submitted separately, along with respective fee(s) for each separate submission.

Collaborative works are accepted and are treated as (1) submission, regardless of how many authors are responsible for creating the work.

In the event that your project is selected as a finalist, you may be required to provide additional items, such as personal photos (digital and/or hard copy) to be used for program booklet listings, and short bios, along with revised synopses.

Domani Vision Film Society shall not be held liable for damages and/or loss resulting from shipping/handling.

Domani Vision Film Society, based upon its own opinions and voting procedures, reserves the right to grant no awards if there is no entry that qualifies with sufficient merit.
