Best Narrative Short
Past awards have included $2500 Kodak Film Stock certificate; $1,000 in services from Cinefilm; and a filmmaker software package from Showbiz Software. Past jurors have included Oscar-nominated director Bryan Buckley ("Asad"); Oscar-nominated producer Josh Penn (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Dan Schoenbrun of Kickstarter, Oscar winner Luke Matheny ("God of Love"), MovieMaker Magazine publisher/editor Tim Rhys, and programmers from SXSW, Tribeca, Dallas International Film Festival, and International Film Festival Rotterdam. The winner of the jury award in this category is automatically considered by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a potential nominee for the Best Short Film (Live Action) Oscar®.

All short films compete for an Audience Award, based on ballots submitted by audience members.

Category Rules

Prior Screenings:
- Entries may not have been publicly screened in the greater New Orleans area prior to the festival.

Exhibition Copies:
- If accepted, the final screening copy of your film must be in our office no later than September 5, 2019.

Updated Submissions:
- If you make substantial changes to your film after it is submitted, you may send us an updated version. However, depending on where the film is in our selection process, we cannot guarantee that the newer version will be screened.

Competition:
- All competitive slots are filled by films that officially submit. No films are invited to submit for competition screenings.
