MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The Festival is a non-competitive event. We screen films and videos that highlight the Jewish experience; deal with themes of Jewish culture/heritage/history; or are of particular interest to the Jewish community. The Festival presents narrative, documentary, animated and experimental works.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Founded by filmmaker Michal Goldman in 1989, The Boston Jewish Film Festival has grown from 10 screenings to over 35 at 12 greater Boston-area venues.

Purpose
The Festival showcases the best contemporary films from around the world on Jewish themes. Our Festival is notable for the quality of the films it offers. A number of the films we have shown have been nominated for or received Academy Awards.

GENERAL RULES

The Festival is a non-competitive event. We screen films and videos that highlight the Jewish experience; deal with themes of Jewish culture/heritage/history; or are of particular interest to the Jewish community. Submissions must be over 31 minutes and must not have previously screened in the Boston area.

If you are submitting a digital screener, we ask that you upload it to Vimeo or Youtube and email us a password protected link at programming@bjff.org.

Submissions under 30 minutes may apply to our Short Film Competition, also listed in WAB.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

We do require that our films be Boston area premieres, and that they don't open theatrically or show on domestic TV or VOD prior to the final date of the Festival.
