feature narrative

shorts narrative

documentary feature
Any work of non-fiction with a running time of 50 minutes or longer. Documentary's are nonfictional motion pictures intended to document some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction or maintaining a historical record.
documentary short

student 1st-12th grade
This Category is for any genre of film project of any length produced by a student grade 1-12. Please submit proof with a student id card that you are a current high school student, or were a high school student when your submitted film was produced.
horror/sci -fi feature
Any work of fiction with a running time of 50 minutes or longer which falls into the genre of Horror or Science-Fiction, or both.
horror/sci-fi short
Any work of fiction with a running time of 50 minutes or less which falls into the genre of Horror or Science-Fiction, or both.
student college/film school
This Category is for any genre of film project of any length produced by a college or film school student. Please submit proof with a student id card that you are a current college or film school student.
animation
Any film which uses animation as it's primary means of telling the narrative of the film or communicating information in the case of an animated documentary. Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images to create an illusion of movement.
Adventure
Any non-fiction film in which a sporting or adventure activity is chronicled. Submitted film can include Go-Pro films.
3D
Any film of any length or genre that is photographed in 3D and can be exhibited in 3D

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Mt. Hood Independent Film Festival seeks to bring films of multiple genres including Narrative, Animation, Documentary, and Sports Documentary to the community of Hood River, OR and the Columbia River Gorge area. The Film Festival also seeks to provide a venue to screen films from around the world which otherwise would not be seen in this area. The Film Festival will dedicate a portion of programming specifically to independent films made in the North West in an effort support local film makers. The Film Festival will dedicate a portion of the program to films made by high school age film makers with a special emphasis on local films made by high school students.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
As the largest Oregon based arts and culture organization in the Mid-Columbia region both in terms of programming and facility, Columbia Arts strives to expand the impact of culture and humanities on the community by presenting a wide-variety of programs. We offer a diverse menu of programming including, lectures, speakers, live performance, workshops, and art shows that impact every segment of the community. These different programs have drawn broad and diverse audiences from throughout our region. We are confident that the Mt. Hood Independent Film Festival will be educational, entertaining, and will engage a broad section of community members. We currently offer a monthly film series and are now expanding into a film festival to be presented yearly.

GENERAL RULES
All accepted filmmakers will have two free entry passes to all film festival events.

For the Preview copy, please send DVD or Blu-Ray, region 0 or 1. Or submit using secure online screener.

Submissions will not be returned unless the filmmaker provides a pre-paid package.

Please be sure to write the WAB Tracking ID and Film Title on the disc in case it becomes separated from its box.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Mt. Hood Independent Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Mt. Hood Independent Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
