Animation
The rapid display of a sequence of 2-D or 3-D artwork in order to create the illusion of movement. Up to 3 minutes in length.
Creative
An original story. Up to 5 minutes in length.
Documentary
A non-fictional film that documents a real person or event or topic. Up to 7 minutes in length. An additional grant of $500 from the Greenwich Preservation Trust will be given to a winning film covering the topic "This Place Matters."
Music Video
A short film or video that accompanies music. Up to 5 minutes in length.
PSA
A public service announcement. Up to 1 minute in length.

To celebrate the work of local student filmmakers.



ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Greenwich Youth Film Festival is sponsored by The Junior League of Greenwich, CT, Inc. and is open to all current freshman, sophomore, junior and senior high schools students who either reside in Fairfield County, CT or Westchester, NY. The event will be held on April 27, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Cole Auditorium of the Greenwich Library.
Prizes:
-Best of the Festival - $1000
-Best Freshman Film - $250
-Audience Award - $250
-Each Genre will receive a 1st ($500), 2nd ($100) and 3rd ($50) place prize
-Greenwich Preservation Trust Documentary Award - $500

Open to all current freshman, sophomore, junior and senior high schools students who either reside in Fairfield County, CT or Westchester, NY.

The Greenwich Youth Film Festival requires parental and student signature on a Creative Works Release form which can be found here:

All submitters must print, sign, and include this release with their DVD submission. No films will be considered without the signed release form.

This release includes the following terms:

As of the Effective Date set forth below, the undersigned Student and
Parent/Guardian hereby release to The Junior League of Greenwich, Connecticut, Incorporated (“JLG”) the student’s name and Creative Work(s) identified, below, and further expressly authorize and grant their consent and their permission to JLG to use, reproduce, arrange, adapt and/or distribute in all media, for all times, the student’s name and the Creative Work(s), or any part thereof, for any and all purposes and activities related to the 2014 Greenwich Youth Film Festival (“GYFF”) as well as any events and activities now or hereafter related thereto including, without limitation, public relations, public information, event advertising and promotion, film screening and viewing, film judging and commentary, student recognition or awards, student competitions entered into by the student, and/or instruction, all of which may occur before, on and/or after the day of the GYFF event. The term Creative Work(s) includes film, videos, and DVDs; still photographs; artwork in any medium; voice recordings; written work; pictures in any medium; and any other original work as identified below in this

Agreement and Release:

Description of Creative Work Released (including title of work, medium and brief description)

Student and Parent/Guardian understand and agree that:

1) No monetary consideration shall be paid by JLG; provided, however, JLG reserves the right to award prizes for select entries (but with no obligation to do so) and, if any such prizes are awarded, any and all such awards shall be made at the sole discretion of JLG based on criteria selected and established by JLG, in its sole and absolute discretion;

2) This Agreement and Release is given without coercion or duress and is made freely and voluntarily by the Student and each Parent/Guardian;

3) The Student and Parent/Guardian attest that the Creative Work is the
student’s original concept, work, design and idea.

4) Each of the Student and Parent/Guardian acknowledge receipt of good and adequate consideration in exchange for the terms and conditions contained herein and the other documents submitted in connection with the GYFF.

5) This Agreement and Release is binding upon the heirs, successors, assigns and/or future legal representatives of the Student and each
Parent/Guardian and shall inure to the benefit of JLG, its designee(s) and its successors and assigns;

6) The Creative Work(s) may be used in subsequent years for the purposes stated above and for purposes of promoting future youth film festivals sponsored or coordinated by JLG without the further consent or permission of any party.

If the Student and/or Parent/Guardian wish to rescind this Agreement and Release they may do so with prior written notice to JLG made by hand-delivery to the following address: 231 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, Connecticut 06830;

Any such rescission shall be effective three (3) business days following the receipted hand-delivery of such notice to JLG at the address set forth above; provided, however,JLG shall not be liable or responsible for the use of any information authorized herein at anytime prior to the effective date of any such rescission notice.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Open to all current freshman, sophomore, junior and senior high schools students who either reside in Fairfield County, CT or Westchester, NY. Greenwich Youth Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Greenwich Youth Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
