MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The New York International Short Film Festival (NY Shorts Fest) held annually at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema, showcases the finest short-form cinema from around the world to enthusiastic audiences in the vibrant filmmaking enclave of New York City.

The NY Shorts Fest offers short-form filmmakers an ideal platform to screen their film and gain recognition in the heart of New York City. NY Shorts Fest premiered Ricky Gervais ‘Derek” in 2012, which became a popular British television show written, directed and starring Ricky Gervais. The series is now available for streaming on Netflix.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The New York International Short Film Festival (NY Shorts Fest) showcases the finest short-form cinema from around the world to enthusiastic audiences in the vibrant filmmaking enclave of New York City.

The NY Shorts Fest offers short-form filmmakers an ideal platform to screen their film and gain recognition in the heart of New York City. NY Shorts Fest premiered Ricky Gervais ‘Derek” in 2012, which became a popular British television show written, directed and starring Ricky Gervais. The series is now available for streaming on Netflix.

NY Shorts Fest events include receptions, as well as workshops and master classes with industry experts and top filmmaking professionals sharing their practical advice to attending filmmakers. The heart of the festival will be our quality and scope of extraordinary film programming.

NY Shorts Fest feels that short form cinema and its creators should have their own premiere film festival in New York deserving similar recognition given to the feature film and its creators.

GENERAL RULES
2014 Entry Requirements

Films must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2013
All non-English films must have English sub-titles.
Films must be submitted on DVD or DVD PAL in (Region 0 or 1).
Works-in-progress will be considered, provided they will be completed prior to the Festival.
Preview DVD should be labeled with the title, running-time and contact information.
Preview DVD will NOT be returned.
Please do NOT send stills or press kits. If your film is selected we will ask you to email us a still image.
All films selected for the Festival grant NY Shorts Fest the rights to use DVD and press materials from the film for promotional purposes.
All films selected for the Festival grant NY Shorts Fest the rights to upload a 2 minute clip/trailer online for promotional purposes.
You may enter more than one film, but each one must be on a separate DVD and must be accompanied by its own completed submission form and entry fee.
If you would like to make sure that we received your entry, please enclose a self-address, stamped postcard which we will send back to you as your confirmation. The Festival will not confirm receipt of film by telephone.
Entries will not be viewed without entry fee payment

Selection
Film selection for the Festival will be made by the Festival Committee.
The entrant will be responsible for ALL SHIPPING FEES.
All filmmakers will be notified via email of acceptance.
The NY Shorts Fest cannot be held liable for print/tapes which may be lost or damaged.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

NY Shorts Fest is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless NY Shorts Fest from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
