MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Located in the Nicoya Peninsula against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful areas of Costa Rica, the Second Annual Costa Rica International Documentary Film Festival (Costa Rica DocuFest) is focused on bringing together talented filmmakers and film lovers from across the globe for a one-of-a-kind documentary film festival that merges film with fun.
The 2014 Costa Rica DocuFest offers documentary filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their documentary films for an diverse audience from around the world who share a passion for powerful stories of our human experience.
The festival also offers filmmakers a chance to come together with one another, while enjoying Costa Rica’s beautiful beaches, jungles, islands, waterfalls, wildlife and much more. Attending filmmakers will have a valuable chance to connect with the audience after their film with extensive Q&A’s during dinner and drinks.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Costa Rica DocuFest is held as part of Independent Film Month Costa Rica. Independent Film Month Costa Rica presents three unique film festivals in celebration of independent filmmakers from around the world.
IFM Costa Rica brings together filmmakers and their fans in paradise to showcase nearly 200 films of all genres.
Join us for the best in international shorts and features during the annual Costa Rica International Film Festival, June 5 - 8, 2014. Incredible documentaries are celebrated during the annual Costa Rica DocuFest, June 12 - 15, 2014. The annual Costa Rica Shortsfest brings you the best short films of every genre, June 19 - 22, 2014.
Since our selection committee is located in various parts of the world, the Costa Rica Documentary Film Festival encourages you to submit your film via Withoutabox's Secure Online Screeners. You'll help protect the environment, save money on shipping costs, and your online submissions can be judged by all members of our selection committee.

Entry fees must be in U.S. funds only.
A completed entry and an entry fee must accompany each submission.
Cost of shipping exhibition prints to the festival is the responsibility of the entrant. Exhibition copies must be sent to the festival prepaid. The festival cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of materials while in transit. Please use as little packaging materials as possible when shipping your entry, or please just use Withoutabox's Secure Online Screeners when submitting.
Please enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard if you wish to receive confirmation that your entry has been received. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, although you may ask for delivery confirmation.
SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
Programming decisions are made by the festival directors and our selection committee. If accepted, we will notify filmmakers by email. After acceptance, the presentational format will need to be in our office three weeks before the festival. Be sure to indicate aspect ratio of your film/video as well as any other special screening/presentation information we might need to know. We do not pay rental fees for submitted work that is programmed.
Although the art of filmmaking is not competitive, the Costa Rica DocuFest does give awards. The festival jury will present awards to films and videos selected as best in numerous categories.
