MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Timecode:NOLA seeks to empower all filmmakers and artists, especially those working in underground, experimental, and alternative filmmaking formats. Timecode:NOLA believes its indie film fest should encapsulate the spirit of its city and reflect the unique, gritty, and creative culture of New Orleans itself.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Timecode:NOLA's Indie Film Fest FF2 is a four day event September 19-22, 2013. OPEN CALL: MAR 15 - JUL 01

Timecode:nola's mission is to nurture independent film and encourage alternative media formats including Super 8 film and PXL Vision as well as digital video and all film formats. We accept all genres including docs, features, shorts, music videos, student, and experimental film as well as skateboarding & extreme sports videos. Our festival blends screenings, parties, art installations, live music, and workshops in venues around New Orleans so filmmakers and artists can meet and see other indie work.

By promoting non-traditional formats and experimental film in addition to ground-breaking films in more traditional genres, we hope to gather filmmakers from around the globe to celebrate all forms of cinema.

Our inaugural indie film fest FF ONE kicked off in September 2012 with live burlesque and a burlesque doc screening. Timecode then held it's 2nd Annual One Reel Super 8 Competition where participants shot one roll of 3 min silent, black & white, super8 film. These movies could only be edited in-camera and were projected for the first time in the French Quarter in front of a live audience with a piano player improvising the score for each film.

The crowning jewel of our first fest FF ONE was 'Where y'at? (hello)', a feature film made by 15 local directors. Each director made a 5 min short film that reflected the character of their randomly assigned New Orleans neighborhood. All the shorts were then edited into a feature film spanning a day in the life of New Orleans and opened to sell out crowd of over 250 people followed by a live music performance by The Special Men.

FF ONE also focused on filmmaker education & workshops from award-winning indie filmmakers to super8 movie making & camera workshops.

2013 will bring even more categories of cinema to Timecode:NOLA's FF 2 with all new competitions to make collective feature films, super8 movies, and music videos while bringing together award-winning indie filmmakers and artists to celebrate filmmaking, art, and music.

Timecode:NOLA's Indie Film Fest is a part of the Film Exchange which is an international network of indie film festivals from Germany to Brooklyn. Select winning films in New Orleans will go onto an international screening circuit.
