MISSION & OBJECTIVE
SICFF 2017 - No. 5 - The Big V!
The Fifth Annual of Canada's Greatest, Longest Running and Most Majestic Comedy Film Festival.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
We'd been thinking about starting a film festival since 1987!
AND 2013 was the inaugural SICFF year. We survived, then survived again and learned a few lessons. Last years was a rocking success and are ready for 2017 - NUMBER V. In all honesty we were blown away by the outright local and worldwide support. 2016 just reinforced this. Wickedly funny films with an engaged and beer swilling audience to go with.
SICFF is dedicated to the art of laughter on film. Send us any short film either under 20min or under 1min (that's our Shorty Shärt category) AND now our Longer Shärt (over 20 and under 60) and Shärt Feature length categories. We don't care about budget or any other pretences. Just make us laugh.
Why Shärt? The festival name is dedicated to our beloved Grand Film Marshall and benefactor Ullysses W. Shärt. He's dead now, but the laughs must go on. In fact. thanks to Shärt Industries, we're the second largest steel sponsored comedy film festival in the world! Oh, we are the longest running and most majestic comedy film festival in Canada as well. (We'll ignore the fact that we're the only.)
So submit now! All official SICFF directors receive a meat basket if they show up in Winnipeg. People didn't take us seriously last year... until we brought out their meat baskets and watched them get sick on sausage and smoked meats.
So cheers and submit now!
Co-Director - SICFF

First rule of Shärt - Make us laugh.
Seriously, make us laugh and regardless of your budget, where you come from, your sex or what kind of cats your worship... We'll probably accept your film. Comedy is an art and we're about celebrating that in all its forms.
That being said... maybe no full frontal nudity, distasteful content, profanity or offensiveness. Yes, laughs trumps this sometimes BUT generally no. Our audience is a pretty white collar, blue collar easy going crowd... but European incest comedy slapstick porn (see 2014 submissions) isn't what we're looking for. ABSOLUTELY NO overt racism or discriminatory films disguised as "funny". (See 2012 Hitler roommate submission.)
It goes without saying - Don't send us your art film or dramatic student work that has nothing to do with comedy and everything to do with the low submission fee's we have. (See 2013 submissions from Mexico. #ItsNotAComedyAnna!)
But don’t hesitate just because maybe you didn’t have a huge budget or it was something you did years ago and gathered dust in an old format in your closet… if it's funny then send it.
Recap of Rules:
- No racism or mean spirited nasty discriminatory submissions.
- No Mexican drama's about abusive marital relationships.
- No porn.
- No European incest slapstick.
- No restrictions on format or year it was made.
- MAKE US LAUGH.
