True Edit Award
A full length feature film has to be edited down to 5 minutes, without losing the essence of the story. The True Edit Award honors editors that stay true to the original story, transforming a feature to a short utilizing outstanding editing skills.
Fun Edit Award
A full length feature film has to be edited down to 5 minutes, creating an interesting/entertaining short film (does not need to be related to original story). The Fun Edit Award honors editors creative use of the original material, transforming a feature to a short demonstrating outstanding editing skills.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

At 90to5 we are still amazed by the Kuleshov experiment and it’s implications, proving the power of montage and editing. The 90to5 Editing Challenge is testing the idea of editing a feature into a short film. We hope to grow the audience interested in movie classics as well as boost the reputation and confidence of editors.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

90to5’s call for entries goes out to all movie and tv editors, film students and enthusiasts worldwide. The challenge: cut a full length feature down to 5 minutes. The catch: keep true to the original story... or create a new one.
Public voting will determine the winners of awesome material and cash prizes.

You represent and warrant that you own the content uploaded or otherwise have sufficient rights in the content to grant to us the license described above. Please do not upload, post, or otherwise distribute or facilitate distribution of any offensive or illegal material. That means don’t upload any material that (1) is libelous, defamatory or slanderous; (2) contains sexual content; (3) may offend any individual person or group on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, or disability; (4) threatens the privacy of any third party; (5) infringes the intellectual property rights, copyrights, trade secret, or other proprietary rights; (6) constitutes unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, junk or bulk e-mail (also known as “spam”), or any form of lottery or gambling; (7) contains a software virus or any other computer code that may damage or obtain unauthorized access to any; or (8) violates any applicable law or these terms and conditions. First of all, our competition is meant to be fun and to increase everybody’s knowledge on editing and movies in general. Please don’t upload any offensive or illegal content. Also make sure you edit a movie that is in the public domain or was created under creative commons license (see copyright below). The judge’s (which is the audience) decision is final.

Our website is for your personal and non-commercial use only. So please do not use our website for any purpose except to submit your edit, watch clips, vote for uploaded content, comment and discuss the edits. You are not allowed to duplicate, publish, modify or otherwise distribute any material that you downloaded from our website for any commercial purpose – except your own edits of course.



Registration

When opening an account on our website, you have to provide a user name and a valid email address. We will communicate with you using this email address, so please check it from time to time (you might want to know whether you won the competition). You will receive a password and account upon completing the registration form.

Privacy Policy

We are keen on protecting your privacy! Therefore, we want you to know that we collect as little personal information as possible from you.
