MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The Method Fest film festival showcases outstanding acting performances in character driven feature and short films. Discovering the most talented new filmmakers and actors and assisting the filmmakers in getting the films out into the marketplace are the goals of The Method Fest.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Method Fest was inspired by two actor/filmmakers and former programmers for the Slamdance Film Festival, Kirk Harris and Jack Rubio. The two felt that unknown yet talented actors were typically responsible for the success of many independent films but were not getting the recognition they deserved.Harris and Rubio approached Don Franken, then director of the Hermosa Beach Film Festival, to start a festival focused on the actor. The Method Fest, presented by the City of Calabasas, Calif., features American and international feature films and short films. The festival is named after "The Method" school of acting, which brought truth and realism to the world of acting. Many of today's top actors trace their lineage back to great Method Actors such as John Garfield, Geraldine Page, Robert DeNiro, Meryl Streep, and Dustin Hoffman.
